Upon the newly rebuilt city of Avalon, in the Eastern Plaguelands. Standing on the beach, having just made anchor, was a 'cool cat' or rather, cool worgen, named Aria of the Northblade Vanguard. The woman dusts herself off, her metal armor rattling as she walked up the hill towards the safe haven. Leaning against a fence post was the young Nazard. He was calm and collected, a pair of shades resting over his eyes as the scorching sun shone over the farm lands just outside the city walls. The duo do not make eye contact.
It had been months since the last battle, where Aria had saved Nazard's hide. He had been captured and tortured, and it was Aria who had blown open the doors and rescued him. That was beside the point, you would think. Getting rescued by allies would normal mean little in his eyes, but Nazard could not let this one go. To be rescued by an undead... It made his stomach twist into knots. The entire adventure was in the back of Aria's mind as she entered the tavern, ordering two mugs of ale and drinking them both.
Nazard shoves off of the fence and heads to the tavern, deciding that he would finally confront the issue, but as he rounded the corner to the main lobby, his heart suddenly ached as he saw her drinking alone in the corner of the room. She reminded him of when he met Rima, the woman who died during the torturing process only days before the rescue. Sitting there alone, he felt like he had to do something, socialize with her, even if he hated what she was.
"Hey." Naz says, not looking at the woman as he orders a stout himself.
Raising a brow, She gives him a nod, "Hello."
"Why are you over here by yourself?" He says as he takes a swig of his drink.
"What do you mean?" She says, kicking her feet up so they were on the counter as she leans back in her chair.
Naz sighs, finally caving and looking at her, "Well it's rare for you to come into the town.. Even rarer that you are by yourself."
"Eh? So what?" She says with a monotone voice, taking a swig of her third mug of ale.
Leaning against the counter, Naz sighs, "Why did you rescue me?"
"Orders. No man left behind. Take your pick." She slams her empty mug down.
"That's funny. I heard from Faleath that you really pushed for the mission." Naz takes a drink of his mug, only to be left frozen by her hostile look.
"What's this really about, Nazard?" Aria growls, moving to her feet.
"I want to know the truth." He slams his mug on the counter, standing before her.
"What truth are you looking for?" Aria scowls, her brow twitching as she folds her arms.
"Why. Did. You. Rescue. Me." He looks her in the eye.
Aria meets his gaze, quickly shoving past him and walking out of the tavern. Nazard sighs to himself before thinking,
I must be insane. He then quickly runs after Aria. The bloody woman was fast. She was already past the city gates when he saw her. Charging quickly, he manages to get a strong hold on the woman's arm.
"Let go of me!" Aria shouts angrily, trying to yank her arm free, to no avail.
"Why are you dodging the question!" Naz bares his fangs at her, fur beginning to grow on the back of his hand but he tried to ignore it.
"I can't tell you!" Aria's voice sounded defeated for a brief moment before she manages to slap him across the face.
She didn't smell of the undead.
Nazard reaches his free hand to rub his cheek, unsure what was the appropriate response. Aria continues scowling at him.
"Something the matter here?" A squeaky, high-pitched gnome voice could be heard.
With a sigh, Nazard says, "Yes, Squichi. Everything is fine. Just a.. friendly.. conversation."
"Doesn't seem that friendly to me." Squichi says, her robot GIR standing behind her.
Aria manages to rip her arm free, the red marks of Nazard's grip left on her skin.
Squichi gasps, Nazard looks sheepish.
"Fuck off." Is all Aria says before she jumps off the near by cliff, only to be seen flying off on an undead gryphon, up to the floating citadel of Archerus.
Fuck me. He thinks to himself. He had to go apologize, but he didn't dare set foot near the cursed place.
"What was all that about? Lover's quarrel?" Squichi asks, GIR making random comments about tacos and squirrels behind her.
"It was nothing, Squichi, really. Just an argument." Nazard holds up his hands.
Squichi eyes the man before hearing a loud boom and the sound of Jabbles howling in laughter in the distance. Squichi runs off to see the issue as Nazard rolls his eyes. Before Naz could wander off, a death gate opened behind him and a hand reaches out and grabs him, yanking him through the portal. He looks around in alarm before getting shoved on his ass, standing before him was a very angry Faleath and Derigan behind her.
"What did you do." Faleath growls, grabbing him by the shirt and yanking him up.
"What do you mean?" Nazard was taken off guard and unsure how to react.
"What. Did. You. Do!" Fal continues growling, shaking him a bit.
"We hav' no' seen Captain Aria this upset since ye mate passed. What did ye say to 'er!" Derigan scowls at Nazard from behind Fal.
