The Chosen

That day came so swiftly. They weren't ready. Why did the priestess and the council decide so soon? Those poor children...

"Come on Moros! We're gonna be late for the ceremony! We're finally going to learn what roles we will play for the world! Isn't it exciting?" Phronous laughs as she drags the boy by his sleeve towards the large polished temple.
"I don't know why you're so excited. We already know you're gonna be one of the heroes of old." Moros sighs as he's towed along.
As the two teens entered the temple, many of their fellow students were there, all crowded together. A woman draped in light and cloth steps forward.
"Welcome, children of our future. Today is a momentous occasion for all of you. Your destinies will now be given to you." The woman offers a smile, "I will call out your name and the destiny that will be bestowed upon you."

Fates were so cruel. Separating the children, specially those that were in love and believed fates will grant them marriage.

"We will begin with those who are destined to unify the kingdoms through their love and kindness. First off.. Pirus!" The woman called out, holding out a red gem that was in the shape of flames, "She will bring love and warmth throughout the kingdoms during their darkest hours."
The small 12 year old walks up, accepting the gem, "I swear to follow the destiny the gods have layed before me." The gem infuses into her shoulder, leaving a flowering tattoo running down her arm and back.
The woman waits for her to walk through a door on the right then continues, "Next is Phronous. The fates have allowed her to control our purity, to be the thoughts and allow us to sustain happiness and hope." She holds up a white gem that was smooth and round.
Phronous squeezes Moros's hand before walking up quickly, taking the gem, "I hereby accept the fate that the gods have given unto me!" She holds it close, the gem resting beneath her right eye as the tattoo spreads in strange patterns over the right side of her face and neck.
Moros smiles as he watches her slip through the door, awaiting to see what he would get so he could go congratulate her.
The woman calls, ".. Ervus has been granted the power to control the worlds movement! To form mountains and provide strength and honor amongst times of war! Be the rock of which others will count upon in times of need!" She holds out a rough black gem to the boy that wanders up.
"I shall accept this challenge! My strength may never falter!" He held the gem up proudly, his veins having black ink run down them, branching off into his tattoo.
The group of teens were getting anxious, only three crystals of light remained.
"Next, Lybria! He has been granted the control over sea and air. To provide us with air to breathe, and ocean of which to bless us with nourishment." The woman holds out a sky blue stone.
The young, sassy boy, wanders up, taking the gem and strikes a pose, "I swear to provide as the gods have commanded to do!" The tattoo swirls around his ankles and legs, the gem embedded on the back of his neck.
Moros begins growing nervous.
"Pyristhist! You will be allowed to power to control the devices. To determine the outcomes of war! To defend us from any threats and keep us in peaceful bliss!" The woman calls, holding a silver, square gem.
The rather bored looking teenage boy wanders up, he takes the gem from her but says nothing; His clothing hides where the tattoo and gem were.
Pascho and Moros exchange a glance, their hearts sinking. The three musketeers were going to be separated...
"And lastly... The Guardian of life, nature, and rebirth... Zyo!" The woman holds up a green, glowing leaf.
Moros's knees shake before they give out under him. He stares at the ground as tears begin forming.
Escaping from his lips, he whispers, "No..."

That was the day he became shattered, both heart and mind.

As the woman was about to hand the leaf over to the oldest of the students, Pascho runs forward and snatches it.
"HOW DARE YOU!" The woman growls, glaring at the lanky boy.
Moros looks up at this, Pascho stumbling back from the woman's wrath.
The woman's eyes glow white, multiple voices speaking out, "You dare oppose the fates?! For that you will be punished!"
Coming from a behind a pillar, Cassandra runs out, getting between them.
Cassie shouts, "Mother no! Spare the boy!"
Pascho falls on his ass, staring up in terror as his entire body quivers.
The woman scowls, "Cassalandria. Step aside!"
"I won't! I call to the gods, Punish me in the boys steed!" Cass calls out.
The woman glares, the voice not her own speaks, "Then so be it, child. You will receive his punishment. That punishment is.."
The room became deathly silent.
"You will become the new leader of darkness. The Outcast." The voice said.
Pascho began breaking into tears, Cassie's eyes widening.
Zyo sighs, a frown forming as he walks over to Pasco, taking the gemmed leaf from him before walking off to follow the other five Chosen.
The woman returns to normal, frowning, "The rest of you.. Get out of my sight."
Moros walks over, wiping tears away as he reaches to pick up Pascho. The two boys walking away and following the crowd of students not chosen. As they exit, Pascho glances over his shoulder, towards Cassandra in time to see her fall to her knees and begin crying into her hands.
