[Song Inspiration]
Zara had taken hold of the Norae'thuls and company, along with imprisoning the Solarnleafs and her own daughter as she deemed to take control and 'correct' the wrongs she felt the two opposing families had done to her. The house of Cindergleam was under the young woman's control and none dared opposed her, all believing that Lady Mirith had killed herself when Darian had broken the items containing her memories. Word claimed that the memories had overwhelmed the head of house, but no one could find what happened to her.
Zara had ordered for Maron and Darian to be strung to the walls and prepare the rest for live entombment. Clouds charged with shadow and void had begun collecting over the Cindergleam land and a purple tint had polluted the waters. The beautiful gardens began dying out and panic was arising as no one could solve what had caused it. Soon spirits began appearing around the land and Zara's wrath only grew as she looked out from one of the walls.
Amongst the darkness that had begun to stir and ensnare the land, a shining relic of the past emerged. Glowing with the fury of the Holy Light, Mirith stood, having dawned ancient ancestral armor. Zara's lips curled into a snarl, arcane weaving around her as her armor appeared on her body.
"Let them go, Zaranea. Do not make me fight you, sister." Mirith's voice boomed over the land.
"Like hell." Zara spat back, "Guards, prepare them for execution."
I send a pestilence and plague
Into your house, into your bed
Into your streams, into your streets
Into your drink, into your bread
Upon your cattle, on your sheep
Upon your oxen in your field
Into your dreams, into your sleep
Until you break, until you yield
I send the swarm, I send the horde
Thus saith the Light
Mirith began to tread towards the walls, arrows raining around her but any that would hit would be turned to ash. "Once I called you sister, Once I thought the chance to make you laugh... Was all I ever wanted."
I send the thunder from the sky
I send the fire raining down.
Tears burned on her cheeks as hail came from the sky and flames rose behind her steps, "And even now I wish that Light had chose another. Serving as your foe on its behalf is the last thing that I wanted."
I send a hail of burning ice
On ev'ry field, on ev'ry town
With an upturned hand, the gates of the estate were sent flying off with a blast of Light, causing civilians and guards to scatter to hide. "This was my home. All this pain and devastation, How it tortures me inside. All the innocent who suffer, From your stubbornness and pride!"
I send the locusts on the wind
Such as the world has never seen
On ev'ry leaf, on ev'ry stalk
Until there's nothing left of green
I send my scourge, I send my sword
Thus saith the Light
Treants began to rise from the falling garden to begin attacking from behind, trying to take down guards. "You who I called sister, Why must you call down another blow?" The doors of the manner were thrown open by shadow charged winds.
I send my scourge, I send my sword
"Let my people go." Mirith ordered, staring up at her sister who was at the top of the stairs with her bow. "Thus saith the Light."
Zara grit her teeth, eyes glowing blue with arcane energy, "You who I called sister.. How could you have come to hate me so? Is this what you wanted?!"
I send the swarm, I send the horde.
The huntress unleashed a volley of arrows before shadows consumed both the sisters and took them out of the house and out into the gardens where flames rose, treants and guards fought. Seeing the chaos Mirith had wrought, Zara felt her anger rising.
"Then let my heart be hardened! And never mind how high the cost may grow! This will still be so:
I will never let your people go!" Zara shouted at Mirith as arcane arrows and both Light and Shadow began to twine and fight.
Thus saith the Light...
"Thus saith the Light." Mirith stated as her expression was grim as Zara was backed onto the edge of a cliff.
"I will not-" Zara began, gripping her bow with shakey hands.
"Let my people go." Mirith ordered, a hand rising as Zara felt her body no longer her own, forcing her to her knees and to drop the weapon.
Guards tried to run to stop Mirith but their bodies suddenly froze too. The clouds and poisoned water began to Lighten and purify. Treants moved to unlock the cells of those imprisoned and Light and Shadow wrapped around the Paladin and San'layn and helped them down from their chains.
"You fell to corruption, Sister. I will set you free now." Mirith raised her scythe, tears escaping and blackened from magic. The Light from the ancestral relic grew and burned before summoning a pillar of Light around Zaranea's body.
"Mirith no!" Darian shouted, though kept far from that which would burn him.
As the pillar collapsed in on itself, Zaranea's body fell limp and her eyes closed. The two women's crimson hair began fading into platinum blonde as shadows fled into the air from Zara before being absorbed into a ring on Mirith's hand.
"She will live." Mirith called to Darian, "Hopefully I can do right, this time."
With that, the priestess fell to her knees and all could move again. Blood pouring from her nose, ears, and eyes. Magic comes with a price.
